Where to Play the Best European Roulette Online?

There are so many choices available for online casinos that it’s hard to know which one to choose. Some factors to consider are licensing and safety, bonus offers, and of course, whether or not they have your game available.

Here are a few casinos where you can play European roulette online in India:

Master the Rules & Odds of European Roulette

Roulette has some intricate bets and payouts, which you’ll need to learn to master. Winning in any casino game is never guaranteed, but knowing the rules, and applying game strategy, will drastically improve your chances of taking home some winnings.

The objective

The aim is to win by correctly guessing which numbered pocket on the roulette wheel the ball will fall into at the end of a spin. You can try to predict many things about the final pocket – colour, odds or evens, which group of numbers on the table the slot number will fall in, and even the exact number.

Types of Bets in European Roulette

There are three betting categories in European Roulette, inside, outside and other (call) bets. Inside bets and call bets carry higher risk and should only be played by experienced players. Outside bets are mostly even-money bets with 50/50 chances and are well suited to beginners.

Inside bets for European Roulette

A game of European Roulette has five types of inside bets. They are:

  • Straight Bet

A bet is placed on the exact number the ball will land on. Choose from numbers 1-36 and the green “0”, place your bet, and you could get paid out at 35-1.

  • Split Bet

Less risky than the previous bet, with a split bet you get to back two adjacent numbers on the roulette table. The bet is placed on the line between the two numbers and will pay out if either number lands.

  • Street Bet

Even less risky but also less rewarding, a street bet covers three numbers in a row and is placed at the end of the row. There are ways to place this bet that it covers the zero and two other numbers as well.

  • Corner Bet

You can cover four adjoining numbers by placing your bet on the corner when the numbers meet. You can place your bet in such a way that it will cover the zero, one, two and three together if you want to.

  • Line Bet

The least risky and least rewarding inside bet, a line bet covers two rows, or six numbers, with one easy placement at the border where the two rows meet.

Outside bets in European Roulette

European Roulette also offers five of the lower risk outside bets:

  • Column Bet

A column bet covers an entire column of 12 numbers and is placed in the 2to1 block at the end of a column of numbers. The bet will payout 2:1 if any of your numbers lands.

  • Dozen Bet

A dozen bet also covers 12 numbers for a payout of 2:1, but these numbers run consecutively. You place your bet in either the “1st 12”, “2nd 12”, or “3rd 12” boxes.

  • Red or Black

As you might have guessed, with this bet you choose either red or black for the colour of the number the ball will land on. This is an even-money bet.

  • Odd or Even

This bet also has a 50/50 chance of winning and pays at 1:1. Your bet here is on whether the number will be odd or even.

  • Low or High
The last outside bet is also even money. Here you need to decide whether to back the first half, 1-18, or the second half, 19-36 of numbers.

Other types of bets

European Roulette has four other bets known as call bets that the dealer will place for you. These are:

  • Voisin Du Zero

This bet backs the numbers that fall on the same side of the roulette wheel as the zero, starting with 22 and ending on 25.

  • Tiers du Cylindre
This bet covers the opposite side of the wheel as the previous bet and covers the numbers between 27 and 33 on the wheel.
  • Orphelin

The French word for ‘orphan’, this bet covers the eight numbers left out of the betting action by the previous two bets.

  • Zero Game

A smaller version of Voisin Du Zero, a zero game bet includes the seven numbers surrounding zero on the roulette wheel.

RTP, Payouts and House Edge in European Roulette

Roulette has some fascinating gameplay and payout possibilities. It can be a very safe game with even money bets or very risky with the higher paying bets. The riskier inside bets can pay up to 35:1, while the outside bets pay as little as 1:1. The house edge is not too high, and the average RTP is good.

RTP in European Roulette

RTP represents the percentage value of the bets that may come back to a player over time. The RTP for European Roulette is 97.30% which means that for every ₹100 you spend on bets placed, you can expect ₹97.30 back.

Payouts in European Roulette

The bets in European Roulette payout according to the risk profile of the bet. The more your risk, the more you might win. You have a fifty-fifty chance of guessing the correct number in an even money bet, so the bet pays out 1:1.

With a straight bet, you have to choose one out of 36 numbers correctly, giving you a one in 36 chance of winning. The payout here will be 35:1.

House edge in European Roulette

The house edge is that little bit of extra advantage the casino has that the players don’t. It’s a small margin representing the casino’s profits or what it can expect to earn from players’ bets. European Roulette has an average house edge of 2.7%, so for every ₹100 you bet at the casino, you’ll probably lose ₹2.70.

European Roulette Vs. Other Roulette Variants

A few roulette variants are available, most of which don’t differ too far from the original. The slight changes in them can lead to differing house edges, odds and bets. There is even a change to the table layout in American Roulette, which affects the RTP and house edge. Let’s compare a few of the variants below.

Difference between European and American Roulette

The most significant difference between these two lies in the American and European Roulette tables. The American table has a 38th number, the “00”, which lowers the game’s RTP and gives the house an added advantage of 5.25%.

Difference between European and French Roulette

These two versions are almost identical in table and wheel layout. The differences come in the bets that you can place. French Roulette has two extra inside bets and the La Partage and En Prison rules, which can reduce the house edge.

How to Play European Roulette – Breakdown of a Round

Understanding what you’re seeing when a round is played can be confusing if you’re new to roulette. This is what a game should look like from a player’s perspective.

  1. Step One – Not specific to a round, but the first step in mastering any game is knowing the rules, bets and odds, so you should commit those to memory first.
  2. Step Two You’ll need to decide which bet to place and choose your number accordingly. We recommend outside bets for beginners as they have lower risk involved.
  3. Step Three – Place your bet on the table using the positioning explained in the bets section above.
  4. Step 4 – Wait for the dealer to spin the wheel and make any payouts due on winning numbers.

Strategies for Advanced Players

Having a strategy in place will help you keep track of your betting and ensure that you aren’t playing beyond your bankroll. European Roulette strategies have been developed over time to give you the best chance of winning. These are the top three strategies for roulette:

The Martingale System

The most well-known roulette strategy, the Martingale, works using low-risk, 50/50 bets. Designed to assist players in recovering from losing streaks, the system sees players double their wagers after a losing round and halve their wagers after a win.

Reverse Martingale Strategy

The keyword here is reverse. This strategy is the opposite of the previous one, having a player double their next bet after a winning round and halve their bet after a loss.

Fibonacci Strategy

Known as a very safe strategy, the system uses the Fibonacci sequence of numbers to decide a player’s bets. Starting at the beginning of the sequence, a player will move on to the following number after each losing bet.

Should the next bet be a win, the player moves back two numbers in the sequence, continuing until he arrives back at the beginning of the sequence. The Fibonacci works using even bets.

Conclusion

European Roulette is one of the most popular versions of roulette for Indian players. The game moves quickly, is exciting, appeals to players of any level and offers a decent RTP. Using one of the many strategies available, players can improve their chances of winning and keep track of their bets. Learning the rules and strategies is a good investment of your time.
